Job Description

Ashfield are proud to be working with Santen to recruit an Ophthalmology Key Account Manager. As a specialised pharmaceutical company engaged in the ophthalmic field, Santen has established key position in Japan's prescription ophthalmic pharmaceutical market and has now expanded into the global market. Santen has been present in Europe for nearly 20 years and is continuing to strengthen its position in the European area, enabling more patients and health care professionals to have access to our innovative treatments.

Key Responsibilities

  • To achieve and exceed key sales objectives as discussed and agreed with line manager.
  • Establish awareness and use of the product in target accounts.
  • Establish strong business relationships with all key customer groups. 
  • Identify key customers across secondary care to be developed as strong advocates for the product.
  • Target key secondary care centres and priority units in order to gain rapid uptake of product portfolio
  • Develop and maintain timely and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work within the constraints of any local country Code of Practice and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • To continually demonstrate attitude and behaviours in line with the Company’s Vision, Values and Behaviours.

Essential Skills

  • Ophthalmology experience desirable
  • Successful experience as a Ophthalmology Key Account Manager
  • Evidence of delivering results in a multi stakeholder model to effect changes in policy and practice
  • Successful experience/understanding of local healthcare structure for prescribing, reimbursement, funding, formulary processes and policies as they affect glaucoma and dry eye markets
  • Results orientated, commercially aware with robust negotiation ability
  • Ability to assimilate and impart scientific information in a clear and comprehensible manner
  • Ability to develop and implement a local business plan in line with brand objectives and sales targets
