Job Description

Ashfield Healthcare are proud to be working with Novartis to recruit a Regional Business Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, engaging and developing a newly built team of specialist Key Account Managers working within the ophthalmology field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve National sales, market share and profit targets in the designed  business area
  • Identify, construct, implement and monitor high performance salesforce management processes
  • Partner with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Finance, Market Access and National Sales Manager in achieving the Company’s Overall Objectives. Participate in the sales strategy development together with the National Sales Manager.
  • Oversee and participate in key customer operational relationships ensuring that business objectives are met.
  • Work closely with internal sales, marketing, market access and medical stakeholders to share and implement best practices.
  • Responsible for the successful recruitment and induction of talented direct reports.
  • Continually engage and challenge people performance and behaviours in line with the Company’s Vision, Values and Behaviours.
  • Line management for the Ophthalmology Key Account Managers team providing clear direction, individual objectives and priorities.
  • Conduct regular performance, documenting outcomes and providing evidence, through field visits and other development processes. Manage closely underperforming individuals. Complete the annual appraisals of direct reports, including proposal of salary and incentive
  • Ensure that each team member has SMART individual developmental plan and support achievement especially thru close feedback and coaching. Hold regular development reviews with each member
  • Hold regular team meetings that update, align, develop and engage the team.
  • Ensure compliance of practices and material within the ABPI Code of Practice and Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Manage budget and monitor team expenses and company material usage by the sales team
  • Leverage the CRM system to effectively direct and monitor the team’s performance.
  • Ensure direct reports maximise usage of the CRM system and comply with other company reporting requirements.

Essential Skills

  • Ophthalmology experience prefferred
  • Ideally 3 year plus pharma industry experience in specialist Hospital sales roles
  • 2 years plus successful line management / field coaching experience
  • Evidence of delivering results through effective management / coaching
  • Evidence of delivering results in a matrix organization with multiple stakeholder
  • Successful experience / understanding of local healthcare structure for prescribing, reimbursement, funding, formulary processes and policies as they affect product portfolio
  • KOL development experience
