Job Description

Ashfield currently has an opportunity for a Head of Quality and Compliance across Europe and Canada (EUCAN) to work collaboratively with Commercial and Clinical leadership to develop solutions that enable the business to grow in a sustainable way.

The successful candidate will lead Quality and Compliance across all of our business areas, setting the standard for the way our company operates in all compliance-led areas.  This includes liaising with local quality leads to develop and maintain relevant SOPs, implementing compliance training and regularly updating and improving internal processes across multiple countries and areas of business. This is a senior position and will sit as part of the EUCAN Management Structure.

This leader will closely partner with key divisional stakeholders from internal departments, as well as external partners, to collect, process, and validate relevant compliance data to ensure that Ashfield Quality and Compliance systems are aligned to Group systems. They will empower local Quality leads to partner with the local business in order to embed strong process, planning and project management across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design, establishment and continuous improvement of a consistent and effective operating framework for the identification, management, monitoring and reporting of compliance and business risks, with the aim of ensuring the Group’s on-going compliance with all relevant requirements and the effective mitigation of business risks.
  • Support local quality leads in ensuring that their operating framework meets local internal and statutory requirements and internal policies are in line with current and/or proposed legislation, rules and regulations.
  • Promote a proactive compliance and risk awareness culture throughout the Group.
  • Design, implement, monitor and enforce compliance and risk policies and standards.
  • Develop an appropriate compliance training and communication strategy and facilitate its implementation across the EUCAN businesses and global meetings and events business.
  • Monitor that policies are applied consistently and effectively across business units, including through periodic compliance reviews.
  • Evaluate new laws and regulations and stay abreast of all Clinical and Commercial legislative and regulatory developments in Europe and Canada that might have an impact on the Group.  Focus on maintaining compliance with the requirements and standards set forth in the European Medicines Agency, Health Canada, European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), and relevant local in - country laws and regulations as it relates to the Clinical and Commercial business and global meetings and events business.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • Excellent knowledge of the regulatory environment specific to EUCAN
  • 10 + years’ experience in quality/compliance/clinical governance management or equivalent role in a commercial industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven planning/organisational skills, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and ability to meet tight timescales/deadlines
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Results focused approach
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft and other office systems
  • Able to travel internationally
  • Working knowledge of the IHC guidelines on Quality
