Job Description

Ashfield Healthcare is proud to be partnering with one of the UK’s largest pharmaceutical companies, in order to provide a permanent headcount opportunity for an experienced Sales Manager, where you will be responsible for the effective delivery of sales through a team of 6 Hospital specialists.

Working closely with the National Business Manager, Brand Managers for Special Care and Medical to develop and implement strategic business and marketing plans to grow the new and existing business.

Key Responsibilities

  • To achieve national sales targets and manage the successful implementation of the marketing plan within assigned territories across the UK.
  • Together with the National Business Manager, Marketing and Medical, develop the marketing plan to support the successful growth of special care products.
  • Undertake detailed market analysis and create stretching but realistic forecasts to support the development of the marketing strategy/plan
  • Provide direction to the team by translating strategic aims into SMART objectives through the preparation of a robust territory business plan.
  • Ensure Hospital Sales Specialists have well developed territory and key account plans to achieve their objectives.
  • Recruitment and retention of high calibre Hospital Sales Specialists to ensure sales target delivery.
  • To implement company led performance management processes, including conducting performance appraisals, to obtain an accurate assessment of learning needs and where necessary develop performance improvement plans. Contribute to annual pay review discussions for regional team.
  • To ensure personal development plans are produced for team members and training/development interventions are provided, either directly or through others, to meet identified learning needs of the team.
  • Support national Key Opinion Leader development and delivery of national and international meetings.
  • Establish and/or ensure compliance with company administrative processes, SOPs and ensure that all activities of the national team are performed with strict adherence to the ABPI Code of Practice.

Essential Skills

  • Strong track record of delivering consistent sales results in accordance with set targets through the effective management of a team.
  • Strong commercial background, with a good understanding of the NHS, particularly focused around Special Care and/or rare diseases
  • Strong relationship management skills, coupled with strong communication and interpersonal skills  
  • Ideally held Marketing and/or Sales Management roles within the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Proven analytical skills to undertake market analysis and create realistic, stretching but achievable business plans/forecasts
  • Strong working knowledge of the ABPI Code
